Happy Cinco De Mayo! Who’s celebrating? I actually have no plans. After my best friend’s bachelorette party in Nashville last weekend, I’m more than ready for a weekend of relaxation. Plus it’s raining here. But normally I would be all over Cinco de Mayo parties! What could be better than celebrating with margaritas and good friends? And Mexican food. Not too much. Instead we’ll be relaxing at home and making these. So I can’t complain!
But to celebrate, we made these at-home ginger kombucharitas (aka ginger kombucha margaritas) and they couldn’t be more simple. Or more importantly, delicious! So if you’re celebrating tonight, or just relaxing at home like me, this is the perfect recipe.
I started with my favorite GT’s Synergy Gingerade Kombucha. Are you familiar with kombucha? I am obsessed. And just started making my own (more on that soon). If not, it’s a sweet and vinegary fermented drink that tastes delicious and is good for your gut. It’s hard to explain, but I definitely recommend trying it! It’s become super popular as of late, so if you check your local health food store or even grocery store they probably have some. If you’re not interested in kombucha, ginger beer would work wonderfully instead.
Next, I added tequila and triple sec plus lime and mint. SIMPLE, sweet, and delicious. I absolutely loved the carbonation from the kombucha and the classic margarita flavor. Add a salty rim and bit of garnish and you’re good to go. These recipe serves 2, but you can half it or double it depending on who’s drinking. Add tequila to taste as well as sweetener (agave would be perfect here) if you need! and ENJOY! Happy Cinco de Mayo friends:)
