Hi, I’m Karlie, the foodie behind Karl Cooks 🙂
I created this blog to share my creations in the kitchen. In 2010 I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and finding out I had to maintain a gluten-free diet rocked my world. I found that all of the products out there tasted akin to cardboard, and I was still getting over the fact that food had been making me so sick. I learned to start making more food at home, and my cooking journey began. These days, there are so many amazing gluten-free options out there and I certainly utilize them. However, I still maintain my love for home cooking and creating new gluten-free treats. I hope to share those recipes with you, and all of the tips I’ve learned along the way for making a gluten-free diet more accessible.
About a year ago, I discovered food blogs, particularly some stunning plant based sites and delved even deeper into cooking, with a plant based flair. I define plant based as recipes incorporating grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, vegetables, and fruits, and I try to create recipes based on wholesome ingredients that grow from the earth. I’m not on any strict diet, except gluten-free, because I don’t think there is a one size fits approach for anyone. I create plant based recipes because they are good for my body, nature, and the planet. I love how plant based food makes me feel and the unique recipes that come out of it. I encourage you to try some of the recipes for yourself, you may just be surprised. However, tailor the recipes to YOUR needs, I always leave notes on substitutions.
